Q&A

Q: What's the last song you listened to?

A: Bob Dylan, "The Times They Are A-Changin"

Q: What's the first thing you notice about people?

A: A smile always makes me feel welcome.

Q: What's your super secret power?

A: Endless supply of energy.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

A: My family loves to travel, especially to the redwoods. Hiking, finding bugs, and exploring nature is at the top of the list. Eating ice cream is a close second.

Q: One thing you can't show up to a shoot without, besides a camera?

A: A good attitude! And a great music playlist. I always try to find out the talent's taste in music so they're energized and feeling good on set.

Q: Describe the color yellow to somebody who is blind.

A: Yellow is like that warm morning sun that calls you outside to energize and rejuvenate. If I could eat a color for breakfast that gave me confidence and creativity, I'd eat yellow.

Q: In-N-Out or Shake Shack?

A: In-N-Out

Farmers Insurance

I absolutely loved working with RPA on the Farmers Insurance images. They build their concepts from past claims, so there are always wild ideas and lots of fun setups. We always try to get the shot in-camera if the situation lends itself, but sometimes compositing is necessary.

Northwestern Mutual

Northwestern Mutual has been the presenting sponsor of the Rose Bowl for the last 5 years, and each year they hire me to shoot a wide variety of imagery in and around the festivities. Besides some of the pre- planned commercial imagery, they request candid, unique moments during the parade and game. This is always one of my favorite jobs of the year because of the excitement and energy surrounding the tradition, as well as the complete freedom of creativity and storytelling in a photojournalistic environment.
