PORTFOLIO

CAMPAIGN

The Destin-FWB "Little Adventures" national print and social media campaign was inspired completely by my series "Rite of Water" and other personal work. The art director created concepts and a vision from images in my personal portfolio of my two young children swimming, surfing, snorkeling, paddling, and jumping off our sailboat in the Pacific Ocean.

Q&A

Q: What song do you play on repeat?

A: I have been listening to "Side One" of David Bowie's album Hunky Dory on repeat throughout the entire quarantine period. It is my personal official album for this time in my life and continues to keep me going. Songs include "Changes", "Oh! You Pretty Things", "Eight Line Poem", "Life On Mars?", "Kooks", and "Quicksand."

Q: What's the best way to start the day?

A: Weekly I start at least one day with an eight-mile walk along the beach close to my home followed by a dive into the surf.

Q: What mystery do you wish you knew the answer to?

A: I'd love to know why two oarfish were found on California shores in 2013. They normally live 3,300 feet below sea level but came to the surface and washed ashore. My son believes the Megalodon still lives in the depths of the ocean and if anyone is going to discover the next mysterious deep sea creature it will be him.

Q: What fictional place would you most like to go?

A: Pescespada Island - the Zissou Compound in The Life Aquatic.

Q: What have you only recently formed an opinion about?

A: Politics.

Q: What book impacted you the most?

A: House of the Spirits by Isabelle Allende which I read on a sailing voyage from Nuku Hiva to Oahu. It had a huge impact on my life path. For some reason it made me want to become a mother which then took me away from my lifelong dreams of sailing around the world and experiencing adventures of peril and enterprise.

Q: What risks are worth taking?

A: Risks worth taking are anything that gives you an experiential education outside your comfort zone such as crossing an ocean or climbing a volcano.

Q: What are the first 3 chapters of your autobiography titled?

A: 1.Basic Beach Girl

2. Badass Mountaineer

3. Over Under Ocean Siren

Q: What do you spend the most time thinking about?

A: I daydream constantly about sailing to a remote island on my 46' sailboat, dropping anchor, and living and working from there for the rest of my life.

Q: Best and worst advice you've ever received.

A: Best: Follow your dreams! Worst: Don't rock the boat.

Q: How has your work evolved over the past few years?

A: My work has evolved by becoming more of a true expression of my true personality. I have been fortunate to work with clients who appreciate my evolving messy, soft, and flowing style.

Q: One thing you can't show up to a shoot without - Besides a camera ;)

A: I can't show up without my water housing because even if the shoot doesn't require me getting in the water I most definitely will end up in the water.
